The poisoning is going to be tricky, because a manager of the restaurant is ultimately responsible for an accidental poisoning.

Possibly the cheapskate owner, orders her to use food past its used-by date. She refuses and tells the owner off. After she leaves the kitchen the owner threatens a different employee to use the food. (Someone with lots of kids and can’t afford to be fired)

When the patron gets food poisoning, The owner publicly blames her, Uses her as a scape goat claiming, the use of rotten food was because of her incompetence and all her idea.

She is fired and a pariah in the neighborhood.
