Everything you guys said is right. I’m going to shorten it up and what Richiev said is exactly what it is. Thank you guys once again.

As people have been saying the wife carrying contest is a good hook for the story as it is unusual but work on the log line as it is far too long. Take out all the names and their descriptions and focus on the one main couple to tell the log line. You have put the psychologist tells Barbara it will strengthen their marriage so write the log line for Barbara’s reasons. The other couples can be added in simply with ‘other couples’ as s far it takes half the log line just to establish the characters and it makes it far too long.

      Hope this helps

I’ve heard of a wife-carrying contest. I think it comes from Finland. It’s like a 250m race… carrying your wife.
Traditionally the winner receives their wife’s weight in beer.

You don’t have to carry your actual wife… you can carry any woman. Here’s where the strategy comes in… do you choose a lighter woman and make the race easier… or do you choose a heavier woman and end up with more beer if you win. Heh, that’s a potential source of conflict / moral dilemma right there 🙂

      So I’m thinking Sports-Training montages a-la Rocky 🙂

But yeah, work on the length of your log-line. For one thing, chop everyone’s names.

(Off-topic. I’ve been to Boothbay. Spent a couple of months living in Portland, ME. It was FREEZING)

A little long for a logline but It caught my interest because I’ve never heard of a wife carrying contest. (Not even sure what it is)

“An unhappy couple enter a small town wife carrying contest in hopes it will revitalize their marriage.”
