      Craig:

After watching the YouTub video it occurred to me that a more compelling story might be: what happens if the cloning were to succeed. What kind of modern day Messiah — or not — would he be? A modern day “Life of Brian” or?

Look at the film franchise created from the premise of cloning extinct dinosaurs. Take it to the next step, the next level.

      Suggested working title: Born Again.

I originally drafted this as a Novel about 5 years ago and therefore the story has multiple storylines. I was thinking the FBI guy was a good way of letting the audience discover facts as he did. The Zealots believe they are bringing Jesus back as Jesus put in place the technology that would lead to cloning. Hence they are doing God’s work.

They operate under the cover of IVF clinics which fund them and give them access to some of the tech they need.

We filmed a scene from it. We did it for the Rode Film Competition. It’s on YouTube if you want to see it. Search for “blood brother” and my name Craig Griffiths.
Thanks for the help. If I sell it free drinks are on there way.

The characters are undoubtedly compelling but the real-life equivalents of Anton Chigurh or the Mafia are not hogging news headlines around the globe. Religious fanaticism of any kind has been a sore point for millions of people in recent times. So, making the antagonists Christian zealots is safe and smart and may attract producers and audiences who love metaphysical imagery – millions – judging by the success of the movies made from Dan Brown’s books.

Also, Police procedurals are a sub-genre of the Thriller and as such are staple diet for movie lovers.

Nor can I another FBI agent in a standard issue, pursue-and-catch-before-the-clock-runs-out scenario.

The zealots don’t have to be “attractive”. The “Goodfellas” are not “attractive”. But they are interesting. Anton Chigurh, the psychopath in “No Country for Old Men”, is not “attractive”. But he is compelling.

Sorry but I can’t see religious zealots being attractive protagonists that a cinema audience would be willing to identify with in this day and age.

I think the more interesting element of the concept is the goal of the cult zealots, not the goal of the FBI agent. Why not refocus the story, make the cult leader the protagonist, the FBI agent his nemesis?

It’s all about da bass… and treble.

“When a DNA sample of the blood of Christ is stolen during a robbery an atheist FBI agent hunts a group of religious fanatics intent on cloning a man who?s been dead for over 2000 years”.

It looks at people willing to do bad things when they believe they are doing good. The leader of the group wants to be the man responsible for guiding Jesus to manhood.

I’m all for “alternate world” stories about factual events, just make it believable within the world of your story.

Okay, and I like the basic concept. But I am curious as to why the zealots determined to clone the “prince of peace” are described as “murderous”? What do they want to do with their shake-and-bake Savior? It seems to me that ordinary religious zealotry would suffice as a motivation.

Need to focus on his goal for the logline. The story is told through multiple protagonists. But this is about the line not the script. Good feedback.

Well the State University New York was allowed to take a sample from the back of the shroud in the late 80’s. The project was called STURP (Shroud of Turin University Research Project).

The only fact I am taking from their research is that they detected blood. That’s where the story begins for me. It looks at how far people will go for what they believe.

“leads him into conflict” is imprecise. Of course, a plot involves conflict. But having discovered that a group fanatics are determined to clone Jesus, what is the agent’s objective goal?

A story question – do you plan on skimming the real life situation of the Shroud of Turin having been debunked as fake, or will you be doing the ‘this is the “REAL” Shroud of Turin” thing.

As bad as The Da Vinci Code was, knowing that the story behind the novel has long been known as fraudulent, kind of made it worse.

I’m just interested in how you’re approaching your thing…

I’m just interested in how you’re approaching your thing…
