It?s 2087 and for the past fifteen years, the government has implanted everyone with chips that record the last ten minutes of memory. In murder cases, the chips are used by Recall Judge?s to find the killer and now, a rookie has his first case which may involve his boss, the Head Recall judge.

Just for fun, I would start the script with several Recall Judges gathered around “Studying” the last ten minutes of a billionaires life. He died having sex with his nubile young wife and from his perspective we see the wife bouncing up and down going at it. The judges are of course caught by a female superior and scatter.

They work on ten minute increments so they only know when to turn off, when you die. So every ten minutes and new memory is being processed and the other ten is wiped from the chip. Here’s the final logline:

      Recall Judges
An action thriller set in a future where citizens are implanted with memory chips which are used in murder cases and a rookie Recall Judge receives his first case to identify the murderer, but what he finds leads him to his boss.

      Thanks goes to Fejumas.

How do the chips know when to turn on? Let’s say someone is hit by a bus. How do they know to start recording ten minutes in advance?

      How about this:
In a future where citizens are implanted with memory chips that record in ten minute increments, a rookie Recall Judge receives his first murder case which leads him to his boss, the Head Recall Judge.

For some odd reason, I can’t log in, but thank you so much and you’re right, it is wordy. The logline you’ve written is excellent, but the story goes into another direction. Also, many people get away as they do now but there is other technology to help that as well. I’m going to work on the logline and repost it. Thanks once again.

Okay, I’m intrigued but your logline’s too wordy. I also feel it has a lapse in logic. So, the memory chips record the last ten minutes of a person’s memory before his death? How does that help the cops find the killer? What if the victim is blindfolded and dies a really slow death? And if the killer knows that everyone’s implanted with a memory chip, he’d go to great pains to not be seen by the victim before the he does his deed. Lots of ways to avoid capture, no?

When I draft loglines, I sometimes look at the loglines of movies that my script have been inspired by. This has shades of Minority Report. It’s logline is: In a future where a special police unit is able to arrest murderers before they commit their crimes, an officer from that unit is himself accused of a future murder.

      My stab at it:

In a future where citizens are implanted with memory chips, a rookie detective in the special Recall Unit? investigates a serial killer which leads him to someone in his own department.

      Best of luck!
