I’m not comfortable with the phrase: “… he begins to question their divinity.” as his discovery takes questioning out of the equation.

      Perhaps (in at 30 words):

When a man discovers the perfect beings they have worshiped as gods were long ago man-made he risks their wrath as he tries to expose their less than divine nature.

So the movie is about a man who questions? There is no action, he doesn’t have to do anything? He doesn’t have a goal? He doesn’t have any obstacles in his way? Because if he does need to do something, if he does have a goal, if he does have obstacles in his way… it should probably be added to the logline.

“When he discovers the gods on Olympus are not divine, an ex-soldier turned priest vows to take then down; to free mankind from their fraudulent rule.”

I like your rewriting! I wouldn’t say “tries to expose”, I would say “fights” or “struggles”.

Good note FFF. Fights make it less passive more active.
