Reality is scarier than fiction for a ten-year-old gay kid in small town Indiana in 1982. Based on actual events, one boy?s journey of self-discovery comes to a halt when he hears about a gay cancer that is merely foreshadowing the ignorance, fear, hate and religion that almost ends his life and forever changes his world.

It’s certainly a plus if yours is based on actual events. However, you must be specific about the detail that encompass his conflict. How does it go from “his journey of self-discovery coming to a halt..” to “..almost ending his life”?
“when he hears about gay cancer..” is your Inciting Incident, right? How does that fling him into ignorance, fear, hate and religion; which has such a wide possibility of plot, suggesting anything can happen…
What becomes his Objective GOAL a result of the Inciting Incident? What is the nature of action must he take to achieve this specific Goal?

      Where is your plot headed??

Think in terms of a starting point and an end point.
      Good Luck Rick1973

You should write the logline from the point of view of the lead character, not a narrator.
      —–
“When he hears about gay cancer, a small town, ten-year-old?must…” (I am not sure what the lead character’s goal is so it is hard to move forward)

What is the lead character’s pro-active goal
What is standing in the way (Is there a specific bully, for instance?)
