Richiev's version is an improvement.? But why must she figure out a way to leave?? What's the dramatic imperative?? What's are the stakes (to be gained if she leaves, lost if she doesn't)?? What is the specific "struggling-with-life" problem motivating the plot?

So the protagonist is, in effect, an anti-hero.? Anti-hero stories are? difficult to pull off.? Vince Gilligan did it quite effectively in? “Breaking Bad”.? I would suggest studying that series, particularly the pilot episode, for how he pulled it off.
