Is there any relationship between a story logline and script?

The logline is a concise summary of the story in 35 words or less. It should cover the inciting incident, the protagonist and their goal as a minimum. Once you have a strong logline, you can then progress to writing a synopsis that unpacks the logline and goes into greater detail. You can write short or long versions of a synopsis, it’s whatever works for you. You can also create a board – a collection of ideas for scenes that show the story progressing.

From here, you can begin writing the script, continually using the logline, synopsis, and whatever other preperation you’ve chosen to do to as a reference point.

The logline and script are two different ways of telling the same story. The logline is the baby and the script is the logline all grown up – but it’s the same person.

    Hope this helps.

When a Bible Schoolteacher is brutalized by two racist cops, he must kill or be killed.

Is this bible schoolteacher black/asian/latino? If it's a film about race then we kinda need that info - I can assume... but that's never a good idea. So he’s been beaten up by two racist cops… why does he know have to kill them? The inciting incident is past tense… it’s happened… so why is this teacher in danger of being killed now? Or is the beating still happening?

I get that these cops are racist but would they actually just kill someone for no reason (other than colour of their skin)?

Not sure this falls under the “Superhero” genre either. He has no powers (at least not based on this logline), he’s not being heroic in any way by protecting other people or sacrificing himself. He’s apparently just acting in self-defence. In my book, this doesn’t make him a superhero.

This guy’s very religious too right? Is he really just going to ignore that all for now?

I feel this is just the inciting incident. I want to know the repercussions of this event.

    Hope this helps.

Further to dpg's comments... How does a no-name photographer fall in love with the tennis world champion? Surely for this to happen they'd have to be close enough for him to get to know her. OR has he in fact never met her and is infatuated with how she is portrayed in the media and her looks. If that’s the case, then his actions aren’t romantic. They’re just plain creepy. In this day and age, this is problematic!
