(4th revision) A vigilante hacker spies on a power-hungry corporation as they confirm reality itself can be manipulated like computer code, and finds herself in a race with them to leverage this power and stop them from controlling the world.
I like the premise for this idea. I've followed it as it's progressed. My main issue is I'm worried that the film will consist of watching people sat in front of computers. I like the premise for this idea. I’ve followed it as it’s progressed. My main issue is I’m worried that the film will consist of watching people sat in front of computers. I’m struggling to see visuals beyond this right now. The quest all takes place within a machine… is there anyway to take it out of the virtual world?
I still worry that it will draw massive comparisons to The Matrix and I think in order for reality itself to be manipulated, our reality must be a virtual one from the start. Unless you have a really good way of explaining how computer code can create and control biological matter.
Surely, if this corporation has already confirmed that reality can be manipulated with code, then they already control the world?
There’s definitely something here, keep looking for it!
See lessDuring a solo expedition through the Australian outback, a lonely female scientist befriends a mysterious traveller via her long-range UHF radio, but things turn sinister when he insists on meeting up in the middle of nowhere.
I like this idea. However, I feel like this logline is currently just the inciting incident. The break between Act I & Act II would be where she meets this guy - either by choice or otherwise. “things turn sinister” – in what way? Film is a visual medium so give us something visual? How has it actually turned sinister when all he’s done is suggest meeting up. You say “insist” but surely there’s no way he can actually insist on that. He can merely suggest. That would be when he just turns up at her camp though. Now that’s sinister!
Why is she a scientist? You can probably remove the word “female” as you refer to her as “her” later on.
The main thing this logline needs though is a goal. Once she’s come face to face with this guy, what’s she going to do.
Definitely looking forward to seeing where this goes.
See lessWhen a bullied classmate turns up drowned, meek hall monitor must team up with their high school tormentor in order to catch the culprit.
Kinda feel like this should be in the "mystery" or "crime" category instead of a thriller. As yqwertz said, why must the students find the culprit? As yqwertz said, why must the students find the culprit? There needs to be a reason why the police are written off otherwise a reader’s first question is always going to be why aren’t the police dealing with this and if they are, why does this kid feel the need to get involved. There needs to be something personal about this incident – as in Richiev’s version – it’s the best friend who dies.
Why does the protagonist NEED to team up with the bully? I get the odd couple dynamic you’re going for but there must be a really good reason for it.
