I wonder whether it would be worth including that they wanted to steal the gold for themselves? Setting them up as soldiers could give readers the impression that this is an order from up-high, whereas my recollection (it's been a reeeeaaaallly long time since I've seen it) was that they went AWOL.Read more

I wonder whether it would be worth including that they wanted to steal the gold for themselves? Setting them up as soldiers could give readers the impression that this is an order from up-high, whereas my recollection (it’s been a reeeeaaaallly long time since I’ve seen it) was that they went AWOL. I think this is interesting from a character perspective and adds substantial consequences to what it is they’re doing.

A young man smokes marijuana chronically for a decade despite disapproval from his parents, mainly because he enjoys its numbing and uplifting effects, which helps when you despise the state of the world.

As dpg pointed out, this is simply a character and a situation. How will this sustain a 90min+ runtime? What is actually going to happen on screen. As Richiev said, does the character have a goal? So he despises the world... what's he going to do about it? What is he going to do about his parent's dRead more

What is the event that kick starts this story?

As dpg said, try running this through the generator and see what you get.

(REVISION #6):? When a na?ve, rambunctious teenage singer in the early sixties in England succumbs to the seductive excesses of the Rock?n Roll lifestyle, she ends up pregnant and is pressured to get an illegal abortion that changes her life forever.

Is it the pregnancy or the abortion that is the inciting incident? How does it change her life? What is her goal after this? It seems like this is one long inciting incident at the moment. Is it the pregnancy or the abortion that is the inciting incident?

How does it change her life? What is her goal after this? It seems like this is one long inciting incident at the moment. Unless this pregnancy happens at the midpoint… that could work really nicely. The first half is her seeking fame and fortune and she finally reaches the top but falls pregnant and the rest of the film is her fall from the top.

It’s good that you’re finding the logline hard to write. A solid logline can really help throughout the writing process as it can keep you on track with what the story is really about.

Have you tried the logline generator? If not, I’d highly recommend it.
