In East LA, two closeted gays, members of rival gangs, struggle to build a life together.
I think this logline qualifies as High Concept for 3 reasons:
1]The title and setup so clearly refer to the most famous love story in drama — what else is there to say? (Any logline reader who doesn’t immediately pick up on the Shakespeare parallel has no business being in show business.)
2] It can be stated in only 16 words, well under the ideal maximum of 25 words.
3] At 89 characters, it’s tweetable.
This is a story waiting to be told, a movie I want to see. ?I give the concept a thumbs up.?
I have to ask though, if both gangbangers (different races even) are in different gangs that we can assume fight each other because they hate each other, then what do they have in common? Just closeted homosexuality? How does that exist in their environment of hate? What’s the antagonistic force that can’t be overcome by simply quitting the gangs and running away together?
Also, twitter has a 140 limit.
