An Afro-Caribbean international student and Freshman at a Florida college goes home over spring break to win back her high school boyfriend, who recently broke up with her over Skype, and is forced to house an arrogant All-American basketball player from her school after a booze cruise from Miami leaves him stranded on the island she calls home.

I have a problem with her characterization. For one, why would she want the guy back if he's so cowardly as to use Skype to break up with her? And for another, why is everything happening TO her ... she doesn't seem to have much backbone.

Why is it important that your protagonist win back her high school boyfriend?
