Awesome other than change the word to deceased, maybe a hint of the catch and I reckon you’ve got a winner.
quick variation.
when Step-siblings are united at the of their estranged father’s will reading, to learn they’ve inherited a vast fortune? There’s just one BIG catch.
Weird, I was just talking about how in a movie or tv show if someone inherits a bunch of money, there is always a catch.
Because this idea has been done before, you are going to want to tell us the ‘catch’ in the logline in, to show us how your idea is stands out.

Brewster’s millions: Monty Brewster learns he’s inherited $8 million from a distant relative: The catch, he must spend $1 million of that money in less than two months to inherit the rest.
Easy Money: A hard living, gambling addict must change his unhealthy ways to inherit his mother-in-law’s colossal fortune,
Goodwin games: Three grown siblings return home after their father’s death, and unexpectedly find themselves poised to inherit a vast fortune ? if they compete in a series of games, winner take all.

The catch is the hook, it tells us in the logline what they have to overcome in order to receive the money.
Hope that helped, good luck with this!
Three more movies about inheritances that come with a catch:
Dawg: To inherit a million dollars, an egotistical man must find all the women he’s betrayed and convince them to forgive him.
The Ultimate Gift: When his grandfather dies, his grandson must perform a series of tasks to get the inheritance.
Scavenger Hunt: Relatives must engage in a Scavenger Hunt to determine who will get the inheritance.
So, what Richiev said. There’s nothing novel in a story about an inheritance that comes with a catch. The hook is the nature of the catch; it has to be part of the logline.
Maybe in order to get it they have to give it away – catch 22 – but they could change lives in the process and maybe change themselves. You could also put a comedy spin on it if all of the siblings were con artists looking to rob each other blind through fake charities etc…I sense you already have the plot though, maybe you just need to work on the log line as suggested above.
