But, again, why? Is there a causal link between the murder and the protagonist being a jewel thief?

Against who is he seeking revenge and what for (what was done to him to warrant revenge?
How is he taking revenge: killing somebody, organising a heist, stealing cupcakes, pissing on somebody's flowers ...?
Is the gentrification of the Chicago neighbourhood important in the story?
How is it related to the overall plot, because in the logline I can't see any connection between the thief's father's death and the gentrification?
