“When a spiritual detective is brought into an unsolved folk mystery, she discovers a feud between two surviving clans of Vietnam…”

    some questions pop in head:
    1. What do you mean by a spiritual detective?
    2. What specifically is this unsolved mystery?
    3. What is the secret of the folk legends?
    4. What specific visual goal does discovering this feud create for your protagonist?
    5. What exactly is the Vietnamese history you are referring to here?

Feel free to reveal your plot (until it messes with the final reveal) and frame it in a logline. Now it would become a long version but from there you can try trimming the unnecessary details.

PS. The “formula tab” on top is really useful.

Still why would anybody double date their Ex if their history had the potential of resurfacing?

“After being forced by his wife to double date an Ex, his feelings for her reappear…”

But you risk a passive protagonist with this version, since he is dragged in Act II by his wife

I get a feeling that you kinda get the logline formula..
I’d suggest you post more loglines to see how it goes
    Don’t go missing mrmmr

If you don’t believe me, read the crappy loglines most logliners posted in the beginning of their journey here
While yours was a decent enough try..

The absence of hook is an alarming issue
Should I change it into “apparently missing”

Allow me to explain myself there…

The missing kid (a mischief adventurer type) mentioned to go out looking for a “mcguffin” before vanishing
that puts them in a reasonable doubt whether he’s really missing or looking for something
On top of that, he left a paper trail deliberately, which strengthened their doubts that they will find him as always

So they mistake it as a game

It’s only later when they comprehend the idea that he might really be missing and it isn’t another one of his games.

But since this detail pertains to the Mid Point Reversal, should I include it in the logline?
    What do you say
    Because,
Then the logline becomes a bit clunky

In an extended field trip, when the school brat goes missing, the teacher in-charge assembles his best friends to set out a search and rescue following his paper trail, until it leads them nowhere.

So, does this work any better?

    (Thanks Foxtrot25 and dpg)
