I think this was a mistake and the word was supposed to be "....regretting..."Escaping a kidnapping is fine but not enough - it's too vague a description as an escape can mean any number of things. What will he do specifically? How will he achieve his goal of freedom?

Agreed with DPG and Richive.I also question the logic behind the premise. If the son is a Barrister he should know, estranged or not, that the father can't fulfill his duty anymore.
