    My only real question is WHY she returns there. Why can she not do literally ANYTHING else to earn the money she needs to stay afloat? Other than that the hook is totally there.

    The bits that caught me are your crack addicted protagonist, and the potential that he has somehow fused the drug to to his cells. Other than that I don't really understand what is happening or why. Please simplify.
