“When in 2055 an Alien invasion leaves Terra in ruins, an escaped space ‘outcast’ must lead his group of criminal misfits to rescue their only alibi (left)- their imprisoner; while fighting of the interstellar police and saving what’s left of the human race in its process” — Jake’s 7

“Blake’s 7” meets “The Magnificent Seven” meets “Timecop” meets Riverworld.

Ha-ha – hope the stakes are high enough now!

PS: Read the science fiction novel Riverworld and you know where the scene where Neo first wakes up in ‘the real world’ – comes forth… talking about ‘a few’ human batteries (for ‘experimental’ use).

As you said:The accusation, the prison sentence and the consequence is the set-up ? the revenge is the showdown. And this guy isn’t even rich, so the stakes are much higher! But, but, butttt – don’t start the second act’ too’ late; Blake Snyder calls this “laying -to much- pipe”. The setup should not be longer than max 15 pages! The ‘pipe’ at The Count of Monte Cristo in the newest movie version seems to be 59,5 minutes; much longer ( if one minute is 1 script page) than 15 script pages, and the writer didn’t even got imprisoned.. But, but, buttt – you could argue that the premise of this movie ended much earlier; namely when the mean character gets sentenced, occurring in the movie at 25,25 minutes. Yes, that’s still too late but much earlier in the movie.

For me personally some kind of contradiction should ALWAYS be in a story. If this is the right one for this logline remains to be seen. Now I’m drinking no coffee anymore and don’t work late at night, I hope (in the near future) my loglines will get – let?s say – clearer…. and my mind also-
