You get bonus points here for efficiency! The funny thing about TOY STORY is trying to connote in a smooth way that the leads are action figure type toys.?I think 'space toy' comes off a bit weird, it could be a flying saucer. How about "...and his annoying astronaut sidekick"?

You have the beginnings of a rom-com premise- the 2 different, unlikely love leads. But you need the situation or hook that brings them together, it typically can’t just be “he likes her” and pursues her through the conventional ways.

Usually the thing that brings them together is also related to what makes the potential relationship difficult. For example, in the old “Can’t Buy Me Love”, the loser guy pays the popular girl to hang out with him so he’ll become more popular, but of course they develop a real relationship. Their differing social status is what brings them together, but also keeps them apart/makes the relationship difficult.

When you come up with that hook, it will not only make your logline but will also give you a backbone to put your story together and hang all your different ideas about the characters, love and relationships, etc.

This subject is generally interesting, but not nearly descriptive enough for a logline, as you've described a general life experience. This subject is generally interesting, but not nearly descriptive enough for a logline, as you’ve described a general life experience.

For example, Wild Hogs is about 4 friends who have a middle-age crisis, well that’s pretty ordinary. But the hook is that they all buy Harleys and go on a road trip, and get into it with a real biker gang. Regardless of how the movie turned out, I thought that was a great concept.

Yours does not have to be so high concept, but just telling us fatherhood is not easy is self-evident. You have to give us more.
