Copernicus’ Secret: It takes a lifetime for Nicolaus Copernicus to re-write our understanding of the Universe but plagued by self-doubt and fear, he’s unwilling to publish until a Protestant Professor risks imprisonment to convince him to publish.

I really like this, a significant scientific/historical subject with a great dramatic conflict and storyline.

I think I get what you are going for with “it takes a lifetime”- it’s not so much that the movie has to take place over his entire life, but it represents the time and effort he has taken to produce his findings. I think it’s possible to describe the same thing in different terms, to avoid any possible misunderstanding about the focus of the movie.

I brainstormed another version of your log, maybe a couple of elements might be useful?

Nicolaus Copernicus creates a new theory of the universe upending all prevailing cultural and religious beliefs about man’s place in the universe, ?but self-doubt and the threat?of retribution prevent him from?publishing his life’s work until a Protestant Professor also risks persecution and imprisonment to stand by his side.

It sounds like?Copernicus is the protag who goes through a significant character arc, and the professor is the main supporting character that enables his change, even if they get approximately equal screen time.

I tried to make Copernicus a bit more ‘active’ in the logline, in the previous version he seemed a bit passive.?He would seem to be facing just as much opposition and danger as the professor, regardless of who goes to prison in the plot. I also tried to better connote the forces against him, as his theory was truly revolutionary and turned existing beliefs upside-down.

A secret society of Torah zealots ask a baker who can see into the past to join them in ridding the world of pagan idols but when she refuses, the government offers her a deal of freedom from a troubled past to become a mole and deliver the elusive society to them.

I don' t think we understand how her special ability of seeing into the past is needed by the pagan zealots. So it comes across as a bunch of disparate elements. You do have some interesting elements in the mix- -A person?with a special ability...which has gotten her into trouble before -A secret socRead more

You do have some interesting elements in the mix-
-A person?with a special ability…which has gotten her into trouble before
    -A secret society
    -The government

It could be really cool, but it’s not clear to me how it all ties together.
Also, the entire logline describes a decision point for the protagonist, not the main plot line.

I like this too! It really screams comedy to me, but doesn't have to be. It reminds me of that Click movie with Adam Sandler, taking something modern and using it as a magic, fairy-tale type device.?I would re-position the second part a bit, to better emphasize the conflict of the story. So something like-

DIRTY LAUNDRY: Under the influence of her new washing machine, a shy single woman seeks pleasure in her dirtiest fantasies, complicating her?goal of settling down and having a family.

But if it’s horror, you have to introduce that element in the logline. Right now, there’s no horror in the logline. Do her fantasies start turning masochistic and violent, even more id-driven? Does she hurt/kill someone? Is someone trying to stop her? Etc.

I think the ideal of making it a machine at a public laundromat is a good one, though you could still have other characters affected if its her own machine, if she washes a friend’s clothes, etc.
