One way you could differentiate it from I Love You Man, is to give her a big character flaw that would increase her obstacle of getting friends. Think of Seven of Nine from Star Trek Voyager getting married, how hard would it be for a former Borg to get friends over for her wedding?

What if your MC is a known sociopath, or better yet a former serial killer - good luck getting anyone to attend her wedding.
