After receiving a text from her child, ten years after his death…[[a woman tries to find him/ her, to prove its not an illusion]]
    for the part in brackets..
she wouldn’t find her child just to prove her sanity, but because it’s her child!

Also the plot-verb resembles that one of a 2008 Eastwood film “changeling”

    Also, what’s stopping her?
and if it is her child..why doesn’t (s)he just drop by-instead of texting her?
If it isn’t, you should find a way around “text from her child” in the logline..

“what’s stopping her…” MUST be a part of your logline..

(could be some event he’s looking forward to while his new mom acts as the force of conflict..)

at this stage, the plot looks a little biased,
shouldn’t it also reveal the other faces of the dice?
(If you still choose to go with an evil-stepmom premise, you might wanna exercise your freedom in a comedy instead, otherwise it would hurt good stepmoms trying their best to hold their families together)

…then walk away like “team america world police”
(full of clich?s and yet a superb film structure)
