Secondly, I don’t understand what a “…wish granting land…” is or what it looks like, is there a better objective to give him? Seeing as his goal is to clear his name, wouldn’t he need to find the person who really killed the king?

Point is, this is definitely fertile dramatic grounds for a moving story but it will need something to help it stand out. Short films are extremely hard to produce well (I should know as I’m about to finish one myself) and warrant an additional consideration before you start work on one.

If this is a writing exercise and is not intended for production, spending the time developing and writing it will be worthwhile. However, if this is intended to be produced, it would be better to differentiate it from the other recently successful short film that came before it.

That’s not to say this won’t necessarily be a good film or an interesting story, but to achieve the goals that most filmmakers set out to achieve with shorts the story could use an additional layer to make it unique. Not sure what exactly that would be, but it’s worth considering how you can do more with this premise.

As DPG wrote, you're missing the key ingredients of a plot in the logline. Check out the 'Formula' tab on the top bar for more information.
