Set in 1950’s New York, a middle aged Greek immigrant has to dress like a man, in order to become a bouzouki player and raise money to get back her children from her abusive husband.
Agreed with DPG. Also, why is she separated from the kids? Was there a divorce? Did the husband kick her out of the house? What is the inciting event that sets this story in motion?

Edit2 – When a man inherits his father?s fortune he is shot while he sleeps, he wakes to his final day on earth rewinding around him and must figure out who shot him before he bleeds to death.
Good notes by Paul. I'll add that it sounds like he intentionally killed the wife and after dying himself felt regret. If this is the case, it would be hard to justify empathy for the main character but if it was an accidental killing you'd likely have the audience 'on board' from the start. PerhapsRead more

Perhaps up the age group to teenagers instead of children, this way she could arguably manipulate the system.
