In this version, the inventor is pretty creepy, stealing a person’s body out of some sexual perversion. The scientist’s dilemma doesn’t interest me (reverse switch or stay in body), because I’m no longer sympathetic with his plight. I’m empathizing for the unnamed victim (who got his body stolen) and how the scientist is going to get punished.

I reread it. I get it now. You need a comma between the words "target" and "he."
