So, even if the man and the fiance’s ex (who has the same character flaw) are together at the end, why should the audience believe it is HEA? Comedies (including romantic comedies) can work without a believable HEA ending.

    This sounds like the denouement in a story about a woman conquering her alcohol addiction. If her biggest problems are behind her, what is the new conflict in her life? What does she want now? What's stopping her from getting what she wants?

    Since you explicitly tell us the woman is cis, I would expect the film to be about the woman's "sexual orientation" not her "sexuality".     As Richiev asks, what is the inciting incident? Since this is a comedy, we expect she might misinterpret the incident or overact in some comedic fashion, but the event should be something specific, not general unhappiness with life.
