What's the dramatic point of trying to persuade the police?? If the culprit is supernatural, the police are powerless to do anything.? He's wasting his time (and the audience's) exploring an option he knows they are powerless to do anything about.

Seems to me the logline should cut to the chase:? he's got to whatever has to be done, confront the supernatural whatever-it-is himself.

The young priest ends up having to go it alone against the forces of evil. This is very early in my thought process. May not be a story yet.
