That’s fine, but surely that’s business as usual for a team of hackers? What are the stakes here? Why tell the story of this hack and no any other? Why are they in particular danger this time?

Most importantly, what’s happening in the real world during your movie? How do the secret service come after them, and what do they do about it? The key to selling a hacking movie is making sure people understand it’s not two hours of people sitting at keyboards. If you can emphasise the action-adventure component, it will be an easier sell…

When a pacifistic Christian missionary is sent to a war-torn village in ancient Japan, he tries to spread peace to the two divided clans, only to discover a greater threat from the tyrant shogunate that faith alone cannot cannot stop. He must unite the clans and take military action to finally bring peace to the village.

Video game? Make the movie! I want to see it immediately!! It is a slightly long logline, I think you could trim the odd word here and there: maybe try something like “Ancient Japan: when a pacifist Christian missionary tries to make peace between two warring clans, he discovers…” etc. But the idea itself is rock solid, and has huge potential.

A hopelessly ill-tempered aspiring cop in a crime-infested city is bitten by a vampire, giving him the supernatural powers necessary to defeat the criminals brutally overpowering the local police.

Interesting idea – personally, I’ve seen enough vamps to last me the rest of my life, but everyone else’s appetite for them seems never-ending, so this should do well.

I think the logline is needlessly complicated. It’s always good to suggest a flaw in your character, but it needs to be a strong flaw that relates to what he’s going to do and what he needs to learn through the course of the story. I’m not sure that “hopelessly ill-tempered” does that job.

And what is an ‘aspiring’ cop? Has he applied? Is he in training? Has he been turned down for some unfair reason? This makes quite a big difference to how the story plays out.

Are the criminals vampires too? It feels like they need to be…

I think you could boil this down to something like “When a rookie cop is bitten by a vampire, he becomes the one officer powerful enough to take on the [vampire?] crime syndicate terrorising the city, but [this is where his flaw or weakness plays out, making it possible he’ll lose] “
